Our History

The School of Hospitality and Tourism was founded in 2013. It was established to cater to the ever-increasing demand for further advanced training, education and personnel for the hospitality and tourism industry.

 Murang’a University intends to develop a globally competitive human resource that will be able to meet the requirements of a rapidly industrializing economy. We at the School of Hospitality and Tourism seek to raise labour productivity to international standards as well as enhancement of closer collaboration between industry and training institutions.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is the academic leader in Hospitality and Tourism Management, within the central Kenya Region and beyond. This is evidenced by the increasing number of graduates absorbed in the majority of the Hospitality facilities within the county and outside the county as well.

Our market-driven programmes range from certificate to PhD level. Our vision is to educate the current and next generation of hospitality and tourism managers with the current and best practices in the industry.

Studying in the School of Hospitality and Tourism provides one with an opportunity to be trained by professionals and also enable one to establish potential networks as well as career growth within the industry. 

The school is in line with the National Tourism Agenda, food security and is dedicated to producing graduates that are well competent to serve both local and international organizations. Improving services in the hospitality and tourism sectors well as food sector will serve to improve the reputation of Kenya to international standards.
